Gymno-Vita is a unique park located just outside the Birmingham metro area. Sitting in rolling hills, the park is strict in rules, but very friendly to visitors. Owned by the former Director of the Birmingham Zoo, it is a natural piece of Alabama Flora & Fauna.
The sloped hillside above the pool has large well shaded campsites. A large lodge houses play areas for kids and even a full-sized stage for performances. The small group of members make a lot of fun in a small space.
Many of the members commented they wanted to do more to help, but the owner does everything. He built the swimming pool & buildings himself. It’s obvious he has a love for the place that is shared by many of the members.
The members are very friendly and welcoming. From a deck alongside the pool to the volleyball court in the middle of the woods, there’s always friendly banter and fun.
They take security seriously. First-time visitors are met outside the gates and interviewed at length. Single men are not welcome. It’s a beautiful natural environment and worth the visit if you’re in the area.
