Assateague - working for a skinnydipping site

Please do share this with all your members & friends !!

Last week we told you about how you can help us win back a clothing-optional section within the Assateague National Seashore in Maryland by joining us for a clean up project on April 18, 2009.

Now we’re asking for help of a different kind: contacting the lawmakers who have the power to help or hurt us. Time is critical because the legislative session is wrapping up and we need lawmakers to hear your voice NOW!

The following elected officials represent the area surrounding and including the Assateague National Seashore. Please email them a brief statement regarding your interest in reestablishing a clothing optional beach on a portion of the federal seashore (as opposed to the state park). This effort has been viewed by most legislators as a small but vocal segment of the population. Please help us prove otherwise.

Two things to consider in your comments to these legislators: First, Assateague formerly had a clothing optional beach. We are not trying to create a new one, just reestablish what should not have been taken away in the past. Second, share with them any history you previously had in the area. Let them know that you vacationed here in the past, and would do so again in the future. If you frequent other beaches such as Sandy Hook , let them know that you wished Assateague was a viable option.

When you send an email, please put Carolyn Hawkins (pubaffairs@aanr.com ) in the cc line so that we can tabulate how many have written. Please write as many of the people in the list below as you can. It’s critical that we have residents of Maryland write.

Thank You!
