Naked Pumpkin Run

October 30, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

While not really a nudist event, it’s always fun to take your clothes off and play in the cold. Boulder, Colorado is not really the place I’d want to be naked on Halloween, but a pumpkin probably beats wearing a hot scratchy polyester pirate costume.

Read about it below:

No costumes allowed: Naked Pumpkin Run set for Wednesday

As area children spend their Halloween night going door-to-door for candy, some of Boulder’s more mature celebrants will unite Wednesday night for the city’s “largest and longest running community arts project” — the annual Naked Pumpkin Run.

AANR Office: Status of California Clubs

October 26, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: AANR Releases Comments Off

OUR DEEPEST THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS
Go out to our members and clubs located in the areas where fires are currently raging across Southern California . To date, we have the following information:

- Deer Park (Devore) – escaped flames narrowly when a fire on its mountain came as close as the fence line. No actual damage to club grounds or personal injuries that we know of, but a very, very dense cloud of ash and soot looms in the air making it difficult to breathe.

- Sun Island Resort ( El Cajon ) – According to David Landman of nearby DeAnza Springs, Sun Island has escaped damage and personal injury. This is a relief since fire destroyed the property years ago.

- DeAnza Springs Resort (Jacumba) – was at least 65 miles from actual fire, although the club lost telephone service for two days while 911 calls were given top priority.

- Glen Eden Sun Club ( Corona ) – remains okay as long as fire doesn’t climb onto their mountain. However, rescue crews can be seen and heard going up and down the highway at all hours. Asthmatics and others with breathing difficulties are battling the thick soot and ash.

- Olive Dell Ranch ( Colton ) – Reports that the club is fine, albeit with a very, very dense smoke in the air.

- Southern California Naturist Association (Malibu Area) – President Gary Mussel reports that all members appear to be well and have not had major damage to homes, although several had to evacuate for a day or two. Gary says folks have learned how to live without air-conditioning (which draws soot and ash into the home), how to use their stovetop vents to remove bad air, and other tricks of living amidst smoke these days. He also says winds in the area, which have gusted above 100 mph at times, have caused much of the damage sustained in the area.

If anyone receiving this message has more up-to-date information, or information on a club not listed here, please let Carolyn Hawkins know with an email to pubaffairs@aanr.com .

Brattleboro tries again for nudity ban

Brattleboro tries again for nudity ban

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — The Selectboard is trying again to craft an anti-nudity ordinance, and is asking the town’s lawyer to clarify some details.

A temporary ordinance banning nudity recently expired and the town wants to enact a permanent one. First, it must decide whether appearing nude in public should be a civil offense punishable by a fine or a criminal offense.

Making it criminal could “create a major political issue,” said Board member Dora Bouboulis. (more…)

Top places in world to ‘let it all hang out’

From nude beaches to nude cruises and nude towns, we’re on the threshold of the New Nude Tourism
Amy Rosen , CanWest News Service

Wreck BeachThose who frequent European beaches know that bare-bones bathing has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks, but in recent years things have been changing.

No longer the domain of wrinkly Europeans and over-the-hill hippies, clothing-optional activities account for $400 million of the U.S. economy.

Terra Cotta Resort is an upscale nudist retreat in Palm Springs, Calif. There’s also Shangri-La, a nudie ranch near Phoenix, and the 12-hectare Mira Vista Resort, a nudist dude ranch in Tucson, Ariz., which is done up like an 1800s Wild West town.

The late Night Nude Stroll

October 24, 2007 By: nudistjohn Category: Naturist Hiking Comments Off

It was Oct. 19th, about 9;30 in the evening and I am bored. Tired of the same old movies my friend has on vhs tapes. I begin thinking about my nude hiking and how bright the full moon is this evening.
I look out the window and find it is very bright outside tonight, maybe a walk will do me some good. I go out through the back door as not to awaken the dog sleeping in front of her house.
As I pass my truck I reach in and pickup my trust towel for a cover-up if I need it. You see she lives in a area where only family members are living. Four families, many have seen me working nude outside her house but have never said anything.
As I head out of the drive way I can see her daughter’s car and her boyfriends truck is in the yard next door, meaning they are home and unlikely to be going out this late. As for the other two families, I do not know, maybe out or not. Better to be prepared, besides I may end up on the main road for some distance.
I head right at the end of the drive way down the dirt road for a while, few hundred feet before I hear traffic, but I can see it is on the main road and am only slightly concerned.

My Latest Hiking Trip

October 22, 2007 By: nudistjohn Category: Naturist Hiking Comments Off

On a Tuesday, about 6 am I left home not knowing just where I was going. Only that I was going to do some nude hiking somewhere close. I stopped at one place and looked around, no one in sight, put my towel over my shoulder and headed out on foot. Ahead of me was a rough road if it could be called that, mud here and there. No fresh automobile tracks, just some that appeared to be several days old. Signs of deer and other four legged animal signs on top of those tracks implied no was ahead of me. So I felt comfortable, and expected not to be seen by anyone.
As I walked, I listened for birds and watched for snakes on the ground around me. After 7 minutes the road ended, and I could see a clearing not 20 feet beyond. I found a heavily used path, used by the animals obviously. The clearing is man made, this was obvious to me by all the stumps of trees that had been cut within the last year. At the other edge of this clearing there is a road. It has been there for many years, knowing this by the amount of grass grown in it and the fact that it had been mowed within the last few days. Support the Skinnydippers to Preserve Our Nudist Rights

October 22, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

newtonpool.jpgThursday, October 18th was a big day for nudists in the northwest US and the lower main land of British Columbia.

The Skinnydippers finally got their judicial review as to whether Surry has the right to deny facility rental to the Skinnydipper because the users are nude. The Skinnydippers, a group headed by Paul Andreassen, had created a premier nudist experience by renting from the City of Surry a indoor water park featuring a wave pool, water side, huge hot tub, steam room and more, that drew families and groups truly of all ages, if anything weighted towards a younger audience. They became of victim of their own success when a positive news article appeared in the local press and the powers to be decided that being nude at a nude swim was not being “appropriate attired”. The pool management canceled the Skinnydippers contract and have thrown up every obstacle they could think of to future nude use. (more…)

Spencer Tunick Shoots South Beach
Tunick South Beach

Over 600 people in South Beach bared all last week for Spencer Tunick’s latest project, held at the Sagamore Hotel. Tunick, a photographer and artist of the human form, will display the final works at the annual Art Basel festivities in Miami Beach in December. Tunick was reportedly pleased with the diversity of the volunteers’ bodies, preferring not to focus on only the toned and tanned that habituate South Beach. The current photo shoot is the latest in Tunick’s long history of photographing scores of nude human bodies in various locations around the world in such cities as Barcelona, New York and, most recently, Amsterdam. This year, Tunick made headlines when 18,000 volunteers posed nude in Mexico City. Read more and watch a slide show of the South Beach photo shoot.

Trustees And Clubs Weekly Report
October 5, 2007

Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
Here’s Proof…
…of two facts: (1) we never stop learning and; (2) there has long been a strong need for AANR and there will be a strong need in years to come. Last summer during the AANR Convention at The Willamettans, some of you may have attended my presentation on U.S. Supreme Court cases that shaped the law on nudism. Despite the many cases discussed during that presentation, I have to confess there was one of which I was not aware. While doing research to assist some of our members, I came across it this week.
