The Weakest Link… a word about Increasing Web Traffic
We’ve got a couple of very important tips that our webmaster, Captain Jack communications passed onto us that we’ll pass onto you.

First, getting others only to link to your home page may be costing you Internet traffic! Yep. You read that right. Here’s why:

The search engines that web surfers use to find sites of interest to them on the Internet are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their methods for determining who will rank highest in response to a given search term. When evaluating who will hold places among the top search results a search engine like Google will, for example, systematically determine how many links to a page within a given website and give much greater weight to that number than the number of links pointing to the main page.

NAC ACTION ALERT - FLORIDA

March 29, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

The Naturist Action Committee (NAC) is requesting that Florida residents take immediate action concerning specific Florida state legislation. This NAC Action Alert includes specific contact information and instructions. It follows two NAC Advisories (January 21 and March 11) that established detailed awareness of the issues.

IMPORTANT: NAC IS ASKING FOR ACTION FROM FLORIDA RESIDENTS ONLY

NAC believes all naturists should be advised of this matter, but we are asking at this time that ONLY FLORIDA RESIDENTS respond to this call for action. If you live outside the state of Florida, please do not make contact at this time with Florida lawmakers.

If you live in Florida, the Naturist Action Committee needs your help NOW!

Mazo Beach Naked Turtles

March 27, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

Mazomanie, a well known nude beach on the Wisconsin River, has been traditionally used by naturists for a very long time. Since 1998, a radical evangelist, Ralph Ovadal has done his best to make life miserable for anyone wishing to take advantage of Wisconsin’s only legal nude beach.

PCC Blocks MazoOvadal, and the members of his Pilgrims Covenant Church have, on several occasions, videotaped naturists going to the beach, lining both sides of the trail to the beach with signs and people trying to make visitors turn back. Ovadal himself was convicted for harassing a visitor in 2001.

The demonstrations at Mazo, seem to have been very frustrating for them. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources ruled to continue to allow nude use of the beach, under certain limitations, and banned the Ovadal group from demonstrating on the beach itself, limiting their activities to the parking area and trail.

Naturists & Nudists aren’t the only group to face the self-righteous wrath of Ovadal and his flock. They also regularly target abortion clinics, planned parenthood offices, gays, who they refer to as homo-fascists, The Roman Catholic Church, and the Neo-Evangelicals, such as Dr. James Kennedy. The annual Cornerstone Festival, a five-day Christian Rock concert, is a also a favorite place for their public evangelizing.

Turtles MatingThe DNR, last week, cut down several willow trees on the beach to remove potential places for alleged sexual activity, even though no one has been arrested in the past year. It does open up more sunny areas for sunbathers, and provides additional nesting sites for local turtles.

I’m sure Ovadal will soon be there, preaching about the evils of naked turtle sex.

Caliente Sues Over Stolen Email

March 22, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

Last week 41 homeowners sued Caliente Resort for doubling prices on the homes they purchased at the resort. The previous day, Caliente filed it’s own suit in Hillsborough County alleging that “John Doe” had stolen confidential information from Caliente Computers and emailed it to Caliente Residents, saying “The stealing and publishing of said e-mail has damaged Caliente”.

Fundraiser for American Nudist Research Library

March 20, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

American Nudist Research LibraryIf you’ve ever visited Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa, you’ve probably noticed the American Nudist Research Library. It’s the building you pass walking from the restaurant to the east pool.

This is probably the largest collection of nudist memorabilia and documents in the world. It would be possible to spend weeks in the library just looking at old nudist magazines.

The Library, which is staffed completely by volunteers, is concerned because some of the older material is starting to deteriorate and will soon be lost if not preserved. They are preparing to start an $80,000 project to digitize the content of the library, and in the future, link it to the Library of Congress and possibly make it available for online viewing.

To raise the money for this project, you can make a donation to the ANRL through the AANR office in Kissimmee and get a chance in the drawing for a 30 day stay donated by Cypress Cove Resort.

Assateague Island Spring Cleanup

March 20, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News 1 Comment →

Twice a year, The American Association for Nude Recreation joins with local residents for a clean-up project on Assateauge Island, in Maryland.

This April, AANR will team with Friends of Assateauge State Park in the clean-up effort. AANR will be providing water, juice, snacks, AANR T-shirts & ball caps for the volunteers

Assateauge was once home to a nudist beach, but is now off-limits. A 2005 opinion survey by Gonzales Research and Marketing Strategies found that 50 percent of Maryland voters favor nude use on Assateague Beach, but so far no legislation has been sponsored to such an end.

The efforts of these AANR volunteers let the park staff and local residents know that nudists are responsible beach users who appreciate the beauty and fragility of the beach. Building a rapport with these people is a necessary first step in regaining a nude beach in Maryland.

40+ Members Suing Caliente Resort

March 20, 2007 By: USAnudist Category: Nudist News Comments Off

In the mid-90’s, a piece of land covered in swampy lakes, palmettos, and scrub oaks was sold for a relatively small amount to the developers of Caliente. The ground-breaking ceremony was held in a sandy lot alongside a dirt road on the shores of the largest of these lakes. It was attended by several members of the nudist community, the Caliente team, and represenatives from AANR, and County & State Government.

The developers were, even then, pre-selling lots for their proposed nudist resort. They were promoting their low cost casitas, small trailers built to a Spanish theme. I believe at the time the asking price was $39,000. Through several changes in development teams and management, they still pushed the idea to prospective buyers.

After almost 8 years of development and planning, Caliente Resort finally came into being as the showcase clothing-optional resort in Pasco County.

Now some residents say they were promised Casitas for $50,000 and when the deal finally went through they were charged $100,000.

The rest of the story from the Tampa Tribune is below.
