| Bay To Breakers Draws Huge Crowd |
Often considered a cross between a serious race and a street party
this year’s Bay To Breakers race in San Francisco lived up to the hype. Over 60,000 participants ran through the streets of San Francisco to the Pacific Ocean during the 97th annual race nude, in outlandish costumes, and in serious running gear for the city’s biggest party of the year. John Korir of Kenya, won the 12-kilometer men’s division race for the second year in a row with a time of 34 minutes and 24 seconds. Lineth Chepkurui, also from Kenya, won in the women’s division with a time of 39 minutes, 22 seconds. Onlookers partied in the streets to music in true San Francisco style. Read more,
view photos and watch a video at Bay To Breakers.

| Starbucks Removes Topless Mermaid Logo |
Starbucks has decided to remove its heritage logo on cups introducing the new Pike Place Roast. When the blend debuted in April, controversy erupted over the brown heritage logo on the cups featuring a topless mermaid with only a few strands of hair covering her breasts. The original logo, created in 1971, was intended to capture the seafaring tradition of early coffee traders and is based on a sixteenth-century
Norse woodcut of a two-tailed mermaid. Starbucks denies that returning to the standard green logo is in response to the recent boycott by some conservative groups. The brown logo will remain only on Pike Place Roast packaging. Read more or vote whether or not you think the topless mermaid logo is too racy at Starbucks.

Resort Reopens |
The Desert Sun Resort in Palm Springs, California, is now officially open and ready to welcome back former guests of Desert Shadows inn, as well as the opportunity to make new friends. The new owner, Elizabeth Young (pictured), could not be more thrilled.
“We’re so excited about everything that has happened and especially our plans for the future.” Returning visitors will be impressed
with what Elizabeth and her husband, John, have accomplished already. “We’ve been repainting, redoing the volleyball pool,
replacing the guestroom furniture and installing new televisions. We’ve gotten our online reservation system up and running
at www.desertsunresort.com and are remodeling both the spa and restaurant.” Perhaps most
important is returning the resort to a family nudist club. Elizabeth added, “We’re looking forward to providing a place where every nudist can feel completely comfortable, welcome
and at home.”
