AANR Weekly Report  April 18, 2008

Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director

AANR Loses a Dear Friend and Club Leader

We were very, very saddened to hear about the passing of Chuck Foster, one of the founders of Caliente Resort, on Friday afternoon from complications of an infection.  A celebration of life service is scheduled beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Grace Family Church, located at 5101 Van Dyke Road, Lutz, FL 33558.

We have also received the following information regarding the family’s wishes: The Foster family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in support of the research, caring and wishes of the stricken children being treated.  To do so, please choose one of the following options:

In any of the above methods, please make sure that ‘In Memory of ”CHUCK FOSTER”‘ is mentioned in the memo of the check or to the operator or on the on-line form.  If the donations exceed $2,500.00, a plaque will be placed on the “Children’s Memory Wall” at St Jude’s.

AANR Elections are About to Begin

The May 2008 issue of The Bulletin will leave the mailing house mid-week next week and be on its way to members.  A ballot (or two ballots in the case of a dual membership) will be included with this mailing for all voting members.

There are members who are eligible to vote, but have elected “no mail” status, meaning that they do not receive anything from our office.  For this reason, we are including flyers that all clubs can post (or take information from and further distribute to members) on how those who are of “no mail” status may vote.  These flyers were included in your club mailing sent out this week.

The election period will run from the time ballots first hit mailboxes until June 20, 2008.  We ask you to encourage your members to participate in this important process.

AANR Helping Members and Clubs

This week AANR continued to provide information to a member in danger of losing a valuable job promotion after co-workers mentioned his nudist affiliation to the employer with insinuations that it could “embarrass” the employer.  We compiled additional material which we trust will be helpful and sent it on this week.

AANR also conducted calls with a member and her daughter concerned that the daughter may lose custody of her son (the member’s grandson). The child’s father filed for a change of custody arrangement based, in part, upon allegations to the effect that the boy’s mother grew up attending nudist camps with her sister and, as a result, had a difficult childhood that now makes her prone to argument and anger.

Mom very calmly has relayed to us that this is not the case, and that she hopes to have the freedom to one day bring her son to spend time with his grandparents at their AANR club.  We have provided initial information for their attorney and helped them form a plan of action.

South Carolina Bill Slows

AANR continues to appreciate the hard work of Cheri Alexander of the Travelites club and Roscoe Douberly for attending the committee and subcommittee hearings that have helped keep SC HB 3679 at bay.  HB 3679 has the potential to treat nudist clubs as adult entertainment venues.

I invite you to read Debra Sue’s report below for an update on the bill and how those in South Carolina can help.

AANR Congratulates Olympian Club as a 100% Club

We were delighted to receive news from the Olympian Club that they have become a 100% club with AANR.  We deeply appreciate this show of support for the Association and thank them for taking this step.  Congratulations Olympians and AANR West!

A Chance to Vote for Nude Recreation

A new U.S. presidential election is underway, so is the AANR election.  Now you have one more opportunity to cast a vote…for nude recreation and to help a new club that is forming in De Soto County.  The developers of Terra Sol, an AANR 100% club, have encountered some resistance from the county over what will be its first nude resort.  The story is currently receiving an “animated” discussion in local newspapers and one such paper, the Charlotte Sun-Herald is conducting an online poll to see what people think.

You can cast your vote for nudity at the following link and we hope you will!  http://www.sun-herald.com/Readerpoll1.cfm

Linda Berry, Director of Publications

The E-Bulletin was sent out to more than 9,300 people on Monday. The May issue of The Bulletin printed yesterday. The voter’s guidelines and the ballots will arrive at Mail Unlimited today. The Bulletins will start mailing on Tuesday afternoon.

As you know, advertising revenue in The Bulletin has dropped. Read the following article and find out that we’re not the only ones losing revenue: ttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/17/business/media/17cnd-times.html?_r=1&ei=5065&en&oref=slogin

POSITIVE MEDIA

Steve Vickers had an interview with “Mancow” radio talk show regarding nude weddings and general nude recreation.

Wireless Flash News ran a positive story talking about Nakation ™ in a Box.

Nakation kit was picked up at http://www.lovetripper.com/news/2008/04/04082008-clothes-free-travel-intro-with.html

Nancy Tiemann had an interview with CNN.COM about life changes after marriage. It is scheduled for the end of April.

Earth Day is next Tuesday, April 22.   We are putting together a press release to send to various media outlets.  If you or your club is planning environmental or green activities please let us know so we can promote your club.  If you have not planned an activity, we encourage you to do so.  You can plant a tree or some flowers or adopt an area of a highway or beach to clean up.  Recycling is a big part of the “going green.”  You can e-mail Steve Vickers at clericalasst@aanr.com with information or for a copy of the template release for your club.

I spoke with the reporter at The New York Times and it seems as though the article is going to be a fairly large one.  They are still fact checking.  I will keep you posted.

I will be out of town next week on vacation.  Should you need assistance from the AANR office contact Steve Vickers at clericalasst@aanr.com or 1-800-879-6833.  If you need to reach me, you may call my cell at 407/346-2972.  I will also be assisting with the Assateague beach cleanup on April 26.  I will not have a report next week.

Terry Justice, Club/Member Liaison

South Carolina HB 3679 – FIFTH Hearing! AANR members have requested that we MUST find a way to make these notifications earlier. These hearing happen with very little notice; AANR learned today that the FIFTH hearing for SC HB 3679 will be Thursday, May 1st. This is the earliest notice yet…

Cheri Alexander reports, “Continued debate will be heard in the Criminal Laws Subcommittee on Thursday, May 1.  I do not as yet have room location and time.  I will definitely be there that day. I have scheduled it as a vacation day.  I want to publicly thank Roscoe Douberly for representing me and all nudists to that subcommittee yesterday and last Wednesday.  The more warm bodies we have there, the better. Your “I’m a nudist and I vote” button is waiting. You need not speak unless you want to.  Please e-mail me at cheridonna@prodigy.net if you can make it.  Your presence will make a difference. PLEASE, ONLY SC RESIDENTS!”
