AANR Elections are About to Begin
The May 2008 issue of The Bulletin will leave the mailing house mid-week next week and be on its way to members. A ballot (or two ballots in the case of a dual membership) will be included with this mailing for all voting members.
There are members who are eligible to vote, but have elected “no mail” status, meaning that they do not receive anything from our office. For this reason, we are including flyers that all clubs can post (or take information from and further distribute to members) on how those who are of “no mail” status may vote. These flyers were included in your club mailing sent out this week.
The election period will run from the time ballots first hit mailboxes until June 20, 2008. We ask you to encourage your members to participate in this important process.
AANR Helping Members and Clubs
This week AANR continued to provide information to a member in danger of losing a valuable job promotion after co-workers mentioned his nudist affiliation to the employer with insinuations that it could “embarrass” the employer. We compiled additional material which we trust will be helpful and sent it on this week.
AANR also conducted calls with a member and her daughter concerned that the daughter may lose custody of her son (the member’s grandson). The child’s father filed for a change of custody arrangement based, in part, upon allegations to the effect that the boy’s mother grew up attending nudist camps with her sister and, as a result, had a difficult childhood that now makes her prone to argument and anger.
Mom very calmly has relayed to us that this is not the case, and that she hopes to have the freedom to one day bring her son to spend time with his grandparents at their AANR club. We have provided initial information for their attorney and helped them form a plan of action.
AANR continues to appreciate the hard work of Cheri Alexander of the Travelites club and Roscoe Douberly for attending the committee and subcommittee hearings that have helped keep SC HB 3679 at bay. HB 3679 has the potential to treat nudist clubs as adult entertainment venues.
I invite you to read Debra Sue’s report below for an update on the bill and how those in
