New Show Gets Extensive Marketing Campaign
|
Billed by the PR Newswire Association as the largest reality series marketing campaign ever, today 160 women will take part in the “March of the Robes” to promote Lifetime’s new series How To Look Good Naked. The women, wearing How To Look Good Naked bathrobes and waving bras, will travel on mass transportation through the streets of New York City handing out “Happy Nude Year” cards, ending in a photo op in Times Square. The purpose of the reality series, hosted by Carson Kressley, is to address body image acceptance with Kressley providing beauty and fashion tips. The How To Look Good Naked ad campaign includes partnerships with such high-profile companies as JetBlue airlines, Macy’s, Maidenform, and Redbook. The show premieres Friday, January 4 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime. Read more at PR Newswire.

Nothing to Wear
|
Bluefly, the leading online fashion retailer, has released two new television spots that contain nudity. The ads feature the voice of Brenda Strong, the narrator of Desperate Housewives, and give a humorous take on the age-old dilemma of having nothing to wear by having the women in the ads deciding to give up attire altogether and go nude. In “Airport,” a woman waits in a security line until she’s asked to remove her shoes, the only article of clothing she is wearing. “Family Dinner” shows a woman raising her glass for a toast wearing nothing while her family, understanding her fashion dilemma, acts as if nothing is different about the gathering. The ads debuted on the new season of Project Runway and appear on major television networks. You can also view the clips at Bluefly.

Futurama DVD Features Nude Aliens
|
A new DVD movie of the now-cancelled animated hit television show Futurama is getting rave reviews from die-hard fans of the series as well as viewers who enjoy nude recreation. Futurama: Bender’s Big Score is probably the only film in history to feature nude aliens who plan to take over the world through e-mail spam. The opening scenes take place on a nude beach when the crew is routed to the Nude Beach Planet to make a delivery. When they arrive they are greeted by a nude cut-out sign that reads “You Must Be At Least This Naked To Enter.” For those who are unfamiliar with creator Matt Groening’s irreverent and humorous take on all aspects of society, the big news is that despite a few mild double entendres, the scenes at the nude beach are very matter-of-fact and are written without Groening’s usual cultural irony.
