Support the Skinnydippers to Preserve Our Nudist Rights
Thursday, October 18th was a big day for nudists in the northwest US and the lower main land of British Columbia.
The Skinnydippers finally got their judicial review as to whether Surry has the right to deny facility rental to the Skinnydipper because the users are nude. The Skinnydippers, a group headed by Paul Andreassen, had created a premier nudist experience by renting from the City of Surry a indoor water park featuring a wave pool, water side, huge hot tub, steam room and more, that drew families and groups truly of all ages, if anything weighted towards a younger audience. They became of victim of their own success when a positive news article appeared in the local press and the powers to be decided that being nude at a nude swim was not being “appropriate attired”. The pool management canceled the Skinnydippers contract and have thrown up every obstacle they could think of to future nude use.
The Skinnydippers have already put several thousand dollars into this battle to regain the use of this wonderful venue. Paul is quite grateful for the support AANR has already shown (see attached link for major contributions http://stw.skinnydipper.ca/acknowledgements.php). However it seemed clear to me speaking to him, that any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated. “We can always use help in spreading the word about our fight to the nudist community and, of course, in paying our legal bills.” Paul said when I spoke with him yesterday. “Keep checking our Save the Wave websites at http://stw.skinnydipper.ca for updates and let everyone you know who is interested about the site.” The Skinnydippers have a PayPal link , for PayPal and non-PayPal members as well as their address for those that would prefer to write a check can make a donation, Skinnydipper has promised to put the news up there as well as on their other website at http://club.skinnydipper.ca as soon as they hear any result.
This battle could have far reaching consequences as to preserving our right to nude recreation or in contrast at the very least emboldening those that would deny us that right. I would strongly encourage our clubs and members to support the Skinnydippers in this fight for our rights.

AANR GAT Chair for Washington State
