Stars Enjoy Swimming in the Buff
Although the 76th AANR Convention is winding down this weekend and the kids are gearing up to go back to school, summer’s not over yet. There are still many warm days ahead to enjoy our favorite summer pastime–skinny-dipping. Apparently there are quite a few stars that enjoy swimming au naturel, according to the Access Hollywood website. “Heroes” star Ali Larter’s nude swim came with a price–10 hours in the hospital after being attacked by a jellyfish, but most of the celebs interviewed enjoy the experience. Lifeguard Enjoys 39 Summers at Sandy Hook
Tom McLaughlin got a summer job as a lifeguard at Sandy Hook beach in New Jersey, and never quit, he tells The New York Times. McLaughlin is now 54 and a physics teacher but looks forward to spending his summers at Sandy Hook. He has been the chief lifeguard there for 26 years. Gunnison Beach, an unofficial location for nudists for decades, got lifeguard patrols after McLaughlin and his team had to rush quite a distance for rescues. Previously, the nudist side got responses to emergencies but was not technically protected. McLaughlin says lifeguards at Gunnison have never had a problem with nudity. “It’s really not that different from any other beach,” he says in the interview. Read more at Lifeguard.
Huntington Beach Bans Nudity
The town of Huntington Beach, California, has successfully passed an anti-nudity law despite an outpouring of support from those who opposed the ban. Over 13 speakers, most of which were against the measure, attended the meeting, and e-mails from around the world were sent urging council members to reconsider. A poll on the Orange County Register’s website garnered over 1,200 votes with 80% of respondents against the proposed law. But Monday, the City Council unanimously voted to ban public nudity where it is visible from a public area. Proposed regulations on women breastfeeding an infant older than age two and restrictions on wearing a costume or device that simulated nudity were deleted from the ordinance.
