Assateague Island Spring Cleanup
Twice a year, The American Association for Nude Recreation joins with local residents for a clean-up project on Assateauge Island, in Maryland.
This April, AANR will team with Friends of Assateauge State Park in the clean-up effort. AANR will be providing water, juice, snacks, AANR T-shirts & ball caps for the volunteers
Assateauge was once home to a nudist beach, but is now off-limits. A 2005 opinion survey by Gonzales Research and Marketing Strategies found that 50 percent of Maryland voters favor nude use on Assateague Beach, but so far no legislation has been sponsored to such an end.
The efforts of these AANR volunteers let the park staff and local residents know that nudists are responsible beach users who appreciate the beauty and fragility of the beach. Building a rapport with these people is a necessary first step in regaining a nude beach in Maryland.

Advance registration is now open for volunteers to help at the Friends of Assateague State Park BEACH CLEAN-UP on Saturday, April 28th and show how much we nudists care about this wonderful beach area. We have to know how many bright yellow T-shirts and what sizes we will need ASAP as this will be a CLOTHING NOT-OPTIONAL event. American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) members will meet at the ranger station at 9AM which is located across the parking lot from the bathhouse.
A flyer is presently being prepared with additional information. Consider this an advance SAVE THE DATE notice.
The Potomac Rambling Bares (PRB) plan to car pool to this event and possibly rent motel rooms Friday evening to be ready and refreshed bright and early Saturday morning. If you are interested in staying over Friday night and/or car pooling, please contact Steven Stoller at stoller@erols.com or stoller@yahoo.com and I will direct you to the PRB motel/car pool coordinator.
For other information concerning this event, contact Ray Simpson at raysimpson@verizon.net or at 301-399-9338.
