AANR Weekly Club Report - 1-19-07
Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
With our thoughts and prayers for our clubs
during these winter storms.
By watching the evening news, The Weather Channel, and talking with many of you on the phone, we know that the snow and ice storms have been difficult for our clubs with many power outages and disruption in other services coupled with freezing temperatures. Please know that we’re keeping you and our members in our thoughts and prayers. If you should learn of damage or important information you feel AANR and other clubs should be aware of, please let us know.
MID-WINTER BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
The Mid-Winter Board of Trustees Meeting will be held at Lake Como in Florida , February 15-17, 2007. The meeting schedule and agenda are available on both the club services and member benefits pages (ruling documents section) of www.aanr.com.
AANR ad in Woodalls 2007
We’re pleased to report that AANR has secured an advertisement in the 2007 edition of Woodall’s North American Campground Directory. This popular volume is used by thousands of campers and RVers and is sold in bookstores everywhere.
On page 61, there is a full color piece for AANR that appears in the middle of the page inviting readers to “Take off with us!†Between the 800-TRY-NUDE phone number and aanr.com web address, it all adds up to more opportunities for prospective customers to find out about an AANR club that will fit their travel plans.
AANR/AANR West Team for Quartzite Event
Beginning this weekend, volunteers from AANR and AANR West will begin moving in and setting up displays as part of the annual Quartzite RV event. One part RV show, one part flea market, and one part jamboree to thousands and thousands of RV enthusiasts, the small town–and large Bureau of Land Management Tract–near Quartzite grows to a metropolis of motor homes. As part of the event, vendors bring their ideas and wares to the public under huge meeting tents. Thanks to the many volunteers who, once again, will make it possible to bring the message of nude recreation to so many of these visitors. We’ll bring you more news of how it went in a future report.
Welcome Center Welcomes AANR
While Quartzite booms on the west coast, another opportunity on the East Coast will occur this weekend when the official Florida State welcome station on Interstate 95 north of Jacksonville hosts AANR in one of two visitor kiosks within the center. For two days we will distribute giveaways and literature to travelers. Once in a while we meet a member who’s excited to see us there, too! In addition to a great marketing opportunity, this makes headway in government affairs.
Noted priest interviews AANR as part of Theology
of the Body Project
Father Thomas, a noted theologian and Catholic art scholar who advocates for a healthier, natural view of the human body, arranged a special visit to the AANR office on Monday. Though the office was closed, my family had an opportunity to meet with Father Thomas as he traveled to South Florida to attend a conference. We conducted interviews for what will later be a web cast on how attending nudist resorts can help an individual become more comfortable with his or her body in a wholesome setting. These interviews went very well and were very positive. We look forward to the final result

It has been brought to my attention this week that AANR now has been “defined†in Wikipedia. This led me to a deeper understanding of portals. “Portals are pages intended to serve as “Main Pages” for specific topics or areas. Portals may be associated with one or more WikiProjects; unlike WikiProjects, however, they are meant for both readers and editors of Wikipedia, and should promote content and encourage contribution.
The concept of a portal originated in the Polish and German Wikipedias. In early 2005, the portal concept was imported to the English Wikipedia and the first Wikiportals were established. Later that year, a special namespace (Portal:) was created for portals.
The idea of a portal is to help readers and/or editors navigate their way through Wikipedia topic areas through pages similar to the Main Page. In essence, portals are useful entry-points to Wikipedia content.â€
Understanding that “Wikipedia, is the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit†and after spending time reading the “Wikipedia’s Peer review process,†it is my humble opinion that the author of this piece should submit it to the link below where: “content or neutrality disputes should be listed at Requests for comment†(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment )
.xxx
AANR staff reported last year that the creation of .xxx domains on the Internet was coming. A recent Associated Press article, “Internet oversight agency revives proposal for creating voluntary domain name for porn, which you can download from the Government Affairs pages on the Web site www.aanr.com, indicates that public hearings are open until 2-5-07. AANR staff will keep close tabs on this and report more next week.
